I measure a year in my family growth. I always look for the time I get to spend with them.
With business and all the busy things, I look to see the year in bites. The bites are the breaks that come for us to connect.

Hands down I would have to say that my highlight was in March when I welcomed my second daughter to the world. There was nothing more remarkable. I also met some great new people via Twitter and launched my blog. 2009 is shaping up to be a great year. I'll treat you to some BBQ when I am in Troutdale.

2008 was what it was....I had ups and downs just like every year. I am most thankful for the small things...and very thankful that I have never been a materialistic person. That made it easier to do with less :) Health, and a persona of optimism...I'm thankful for both of those as well.
Happy New Year Dale....and Congratulations on the 10 years :)

Okay - so I posted on Twitter, instead of here. I will summize it to say, 2008 was a good year and I expect 2009 to be better. The best thing was watching my 4th granchild be born.

Best to everyone in 2009!

2008. A Year of Life. Hard year, most of it. Both personally & financially, but have learned that thru the trials, I am actually LIVING. Feeling. Savoring the good moments. That's what 2008 has taught me. To live and enjoy the special moments , and never take anyone or anything for granted.

Many of my highlights include reuniting with old friends, making some really special new ones (a lot of which are online like you Dale!),rediscovering my independence, enjoying hard work on the farm and in the office, and watching my kids become absolutely great human beings. That's definitely most important to me.

I look at the difficult moments as learning experiences to grow from, but not dwell on. And for better or worse, a lot of us in this real estate thing, have grown closer, to support one another thru the hard times. And that in itself, is a treasure.

As one of my favorite Gary Allan song's says: "You can't see tomorrow, if you're always looking back." So I am looking forward to 2009. It should start off great .... at NYC meeting all my new Twitter friends! NYC, here we come!

Nick, As I wrote this post you were one of the people I thought of. I can't even begin to imagine some of your year. I can only hope that I have the same support & love that I hope you felt through it. I have enjoyed our time visiting on and off line and look forward to more of the same. May your 2009 be one of joy.
