Day 19: Carol’s Corner Cafe

Day 19 of 365…

Looking for a great breakfast? Feeling hungry?

Then Carol’s Corner Cafe is the place for you! Carol’s Corner sits on the NW corner of NE 78th Street and St Johns Road. This great restaurant has been a staple in this community for years. Carols Corner Cafe biscuits and gravy, egg and baconIt is one of my favorite places to get a hearty breakfast. Love biscuits and gravy? Thick real bacon? Tasty french toast? Big stack of pancakes? How about a wonderful omelet? If these are a few of your favorite things I’d suggest you head over to Carol’s Corner Cafe and enjoy a great breakfast.

I mentioned above that Carol’s Corner has been in this location here in Vancouver for a very long time. I don’t know the complete history but I do know one small piece of it. Back in the early 1960′s this was called Hazel’s Cafe. I’m proud to say, Hazel was my grandmother! Hazel Chumbley was a wonderful cook and operated this cafe for a number of years. I always think of her when I have breakfast or lunch here.

In 2009 Carol’s Corner Cafe was voted “Best Breakfast” and “Best Comfort Food” by The Columbian’s Best of Clark County Readers Choice Award. So don’t just take my word for it, our community also voted them as a favorite too!
