Day 38: Golden Skate

Day 38 of 365…

That’s right, it’s time to share Golden Skate on 365 Things. Golden Skate has been providing an indoor roller skating rink for Vancouver, WA since 1942. Yes, my parents skated here as kids as did I and my children too. If you want to lace up the old skates this is the only indoor place in Vancouver to do it.

Golden Skate has to be one of the most nostalgic places in all of Vancouver, WA. Everyone who grew up here skated at Golden Skate at some point. You’ve spent the night there for an all night skating party. You went with your school. You went with your friends. This was (and in some ways still is) one of THE places kids hang out. If you grew up here, you know what I’m talking about. If you didn’t, head down and hokey pokey, shoot the duck or just do a few laps around this vintage skating rink.

Golden Skate is open Friday through Sunday and is available on the weekdays for private parties. They also rent out the facility for banquets, weddings and other parties. Call them at 360-696-0368 for more information about renting. In addition to providing a fun skating experience they also offer Lazer Tag which is open during public sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (plus it is open during private sessions too). My kids love the Lazer Tag!
