Day 41: Paper Tiger Coffee Roasters

Day 41 of 365…

Have you ever met someone that is so passionate about something that you find yourself just as excited as they are about their love? Well today was that kind of day for me. I didn’t set out to cover a coffee house for Day 41 but I found myself drawn in and so energized I just had to share. I was scheming meeting with my friend TheClassicCarol (she’s kind of a big deal) at Paper Tiger Coffee Roasters when she introduced me to the owner Zachary. Here’s where my day shifted…

Zachary LOVES coffee. He loves the entire coffee culture. The love of the bean and the process of how they go from plant to roaster to grinder and into your cup is in his blood. He has spent several years learning how to properly roast a coffee bean. This is his passion. Don’t believe me? Stop in, introduce yourself and ask about the process. I promise you’ll believe…

Paper Tiger Coffee Roasters mocha artDisclaimer: I’m not a coffee drinker. I tried in college. I can put a cup down but it is not enjoyable for me. I enjoy a good Chai, any number of blended (non-coffee) drinks, ciders, chocolates, etc. Zachary made me what he calls his “gateway” drink. :) A mocha (which still is not normally an enjoyable drink for me) and I LOVED IT. It was very smooth. I loved the artwork on top and drank the entire thing. I could share more about what they do and how they do it but I’m pretty sure I’d mess it up so I’ll just say this… Get out and go check out Paper Tiger Coffee Roasters.

Paper Tiger Coffee Roasters fresh roasted beansAs the name implies, they roast all their own beans each day and grind them fresh for each cup. I got to watch and enjoy a batch today while I was there. Talk about a wonderful smell. So good. I even was able to taste a few beans as they came out of the roaster. They were good! The flavor was superb. Listening to him share while they were roasting was really cool. Did I mention that they have live music on Sundays? Yep, they bring in local artists to perform for their guests. You can find more information on their website or you can join them over on Facebook.

They are located at 703 Grand Avenue between Mill Plain and Evergreen. Head on over and check them out. Great people and great coffee. Tell them “365 Things” said hi.
