Day 43: Sushi Hana

Day 43 of 365…

How does $1 per plate for sushi sound? Sounds to good to be true doesn’t it? Well, at Sushi Hana it isn’t. That’s right, every single plate is $1. Now you ask, can $1 sushi be any good? The answer to that in my opinion is… YES! Based upon the amount of people in Sushi Hana I’m not alone in my assessment.

Sushi Hana Poki Tuna plateI hadn’t been to Sushi Hana before today but several of my friends have always talked about it and how much they enjoy it. They’ve said its not the best sushi they’ve ever had but that it is excellent for the price. I am still fairly new in my sushi experience but this was on par with sushi I’ve had in much more expensive eating establishments. I had an eel plate and a Poki Tuna plate. Both were great. Flavorful, fresh and well presented. There is a seating fee of $1 you should be aware of.

Sushi Hana is located at 13503 SE Mill Plain Blvd, Vancouver, WA 98684 and they can be reached at 360-944-9659.

  1. I like Sushi Tsunami on Hwy 99 a little better, although it’s better to go a little after the normal lunch time because they’ve restocked the conveyer with fresher plates.

  2. Thanks Roman, I'm sure my travels throughout the 365 will take me to the West side of town to try Sushi Tsunami. Today I was East side and found this a great value at $1 per plate. Glad you're following along.

I concur — of the conveyor belt variety, Sushi Tsunami is definitely the best I've found in Vancouver.

I've been to both, and enjoy both. For the price, Sushi Hana can't be beat. They also have cheap import beer, though not sake as I accidentally found out. The quality and selection is a bit better at Sushi Tsunami. Sushi Hana often has a wait at night, while Sushi Tsunami is rarely packed.
Depending on time constraints, where you are in town, and budget, I'd say both of these places are definitely worth checking out!
