Day 81: Shorty’s Garden & Home

Day 81 of 365…

The sun is out and the temperatures are warming… The desire to plant some new colors, shrubs and trees is high. Maybe it’s time for a fresh layer of bark or mulch in your flower beds? Shortys Garden and HomeOne of my favorite places to meet all of these needs is Shorty’s Garden & Home. Shorty’s has been operating here locally my entire life. The following is taken from their website…

Shorty’s, independent and family-owned for over 40 years, is the Northwest’s premier plant, landscape and outdoor lifestyle center. With top quality products, services and selection, an expert staff and customer service that is second to none, Shorty’s meets the needs of consumers, professional landscapers and plant enthusiasts throughout the Northwest. An active partner in sustainability and community, Shorty’s provides a complete and satisfying shopping experience.

I’ve always had wonderful service from them and found everyone on staff to be extremely knowledgeable. If you haven’t been in a while you’ll be amazed at how large of selection their Mill Plain location has. They have expanded and added a ton of new products and features. While at the store today I had the opportunity to meet Ted who’s their Corporate Sales Manager. He shared with me that around 90% of their products come from within our local area. This is awesome for a couple reasons. One is that Shorty’s is supporting our local economy and their plant stock is starting in our climate which means it is better suited to live here.

Bantam & Grouse CafeOne thing that has been added to the Vancouver store is the Bantam & Grouse Cafe which features British style lunch fare. The cafe is open from 10AM to 4PM daily.

Shorty’s has two locations locally. Their Vancouver location is at 10006 SE Mill Plain Blvd, Vancouver, WA 98664 and can be reached at 360-892-7880. Their Ridgefield location is at 705 NE 199th St, Ridgefield, WA 98642 and can be reached at 360-887-3936.
