Day 117 of 365…

When I was in grade school one of my best friends lived at the Vancouver Trout Hatchery. Caretakers house at Vancouver Trout HatcheryHe and his family lived in the caretakers home and his dad worked for the hatchery. I loved going over to his house to hang out and spend the night. We would tromp around the grounds looking at all the fish and wildlife. It was always fun to see the thousands and thousands of baby fish.

Vancouver Trout HatcheryGuess what? The Vancouver Trout Hatchery is still around and needing to be explored by a whole new generation of kids (and adults). The Vancouver Hatchery was built along the Old Evergreen Highway between 1938 and 1939. It produces over one hundred thousand trout each year. I’ll show a little of the grounds and recommend you head over there for yourself and explore a bit.
