Day 333 of 365…

First off, I have to share this. The number 333 is one of my favorite numbers. It’s a 3. There are 3 of them. Several years ago I won $5,000 and the number 333 was instrumental in that. Okay, now back to Day 333.

DuckTales Kitchen in Vancouver WAFor some time now several of my friends keep telling me I need to stop in and check out DuckTales Kitchen. I decided today was the day. Why not see if I could discover a new favorite thing on my favorite number day. Well, I did! Like several other places I’ve discovered DuckTales Kitchen is very close to my house. I drive past it at least 3 or 4 times per week and for whatever reason I’d not made it in.

DuckTales Kitchen has some serious cool history if you’re from around these parts or have ever driven up or down I-5. Perhaps you saw or ate at a little place called Waddles Restaurant that was at Jantzen Beach? DuckTales Kitchen happens to be owned by Steve and Jane Waddle and his dad was the owner of Waddles. So this neighborhood kitchen has a lifetime of experience going into it.

The interior is very nice. I was pleased to see local photographer Jodi Tripp‘s art on all the walls. There was also some beautiful blown glass adding to the ambiance. The place was quite full which was wonderful to see. I get the feeling that there is a pretty significant crowd of regulars who make this a regular stop. It is very convenient to the entire Vancouver Heights neighborhood which happens to be where Steve grew up. This has that small town “everyone knows your name” kind of feel to it.

I was pleased to see that they offer a happy hour menu on Saturday as well as through the week. I chose the “DuckTales” Grilled Chicken Quesadilla. It has fajita marinated grilled chicken, red & green peppers, carrots & onions wrapped inside a grilled flour tortilla with melted Pepper Jack cheese. It comes with salsa, black beans & fresh guacamole. The chicken was very flavorful and it was enough that I felt full when finished. The rest of the happy hour menu as well as the main menu all looked wonderful. I’m looking forward to going back and discovering more tasty dishes at DuckTales.
