Day 56 of 365…

Full disclaimer: I do NOT like custard. Never have. Just not my thing. My family loves it, growing up it was around me and I just am not a fan. But, with this “365 Things” project I’m stepping outside of my comfort level and trying some new things myself. So today the sun broke and I was in the mood for a quick treat. I’ve driven past Sheridan’s Frozen Custard a thousand times (probably more than that if I actually counted) and never stopped…

It all sounded wonderful except that one little word… custard. Finally, I get up the nerve to go to the order window and make this step into the unknown. After many many questions I settle on a Specialty Concrete Grasshopper. Now comes the waiting… While I’m standing in their outside covered “dining room” people start showing up. Two gals, a couple, a group of guys, another guy, another gal… This is a good sign I think. I ask the gals closest to me if it’s any good. They instantly begin raving! Better than _______, ________ AND __________ (feel free to fill in the blanks yourself). I’m now feeling a little better about my order.

Moment of truth has arrived. Looks good. Smells good. I grab the spoon, slowly scoop out a small bite. Lift the heavy spoon to my lips. Mmmm… I love it! Minty, chocolaty, creamy, smooth and fresh. I figure I’d better make sure it wasn’t just a random good bite by having another and another and another… :)
