Day 55 of 365…

As I’ve traveled around town doing “365 Things” I’ve had several local businesses ask me if I’ve tried Laurelwood Public House & Brewery out in Battle Ground. Until today, I hadn’t… Today I had an opportunity to get out north of Vancouver to the constantly growing Battle Ground, WA area to check it out. Laurelwood Public House did not disappoint. This restaurant is owned by Battle Ground native Mike De Kalb and his wife Cathy Woo-De Kalb. They established Laurelwood Brewing Company in 2001 and opened up this Battle Ground location in 2009.

My friend and I started with an order of six wings (Monday’s are $.50 wing days) with the special of the day sauce. It was a sweet sauce that was very good. The wings were pretty good. For my meal I had the Shredded BBQ Pork sandwich with cole slaw and a huge order of beer battered fries. My entire meal was great. I enjoyed the sandwich and the fries were awesome! Great flavor and just the right amount of crunch. My friend had the Santa Fe burger and fries which he also loved. I snuck a bite of the guacamole off his burger and it was very good. He also had the Space Stout and he loved it. Our entire lunch cost less than $30 which included the wings and his beer. Not the cheapest in town but certainly on par for a similar meal experience.

So, if you find yourself looking for a cool brew pub (that is also kid friendly) why not head out to Battle Ground and check this place out. It’s worth the drive.

Today I headed out to the annual Clark County Parade Of Homes with my friend Jason. We had a great time looking through the four houses on this years parade. I did a photo show I’ll link up here later (as soon as I can get the embed code for it).

The coolest thing I saw during the tour today was in The Hampton. We walked into the upstairs bonus/media type room and the gal asks… Would you like to see the secret room? Secret room? Of course! See what happens next…

How cool is that? The coolest thing is you couldn’t even hear the movie playing when the door was closed. This fine creation was the craftsmanship of Electronic Essentials Inc. Very nice job!

The parade is located in the Camellia development just south of Battle Ground, WA on the Northwest corner of NE 179th Street and Highway 503. It runs until the 30th of August so you’d better hurry if you want to check it out. The hours are from 10AM – 8PM. You can get all the information over at the 2009 Parade Of Homes site.
