Tomorrow, Saturday August 14th, 2010 is the 2nd Annual Fire In The Park event. Fire In The Park takes place at Esther Short Park beginning at 11am and running well into the evening. Admission is FREE but it is a fundraiser for Firefighters Local Union 452 so donations are appreciated. Last year the event raised over $7,000, let’s see if we can’t blow the top off that number this year!

During the day you’ll be able to enjoy watching the firefighter challenge, listening to the pipe and drum bands, chili cookoff, kids events, great food and a beer garden PLUS Five Guys Named Moe will take the stage at 6pm!

Grab your sunglasses, bring a few bucks to donate, come prepared to have a wonderful time and support our local firefighters!

Day 101 of 365…

With tomorrow being Farmers Market in Esther Short Park I thought this would be a good time to share about the Slocum House Theatre Company. I thought this since they offer FREE shows to the public on Farmers Market Saturdays!

I think free is a very good price. Why not head down to Esther Short and take in a little Farmers Market, catch one of the shows put on by our very own Slocum House Theatre Company. Did you know 2010 is their 45th Anniversary Season? How cool is that! The Slocum House Theatre is Vancouver’s oldest Non-Profit Community Theater. On top of that, the Slocum House is one of our areas oldest homes with some serious history. I love the fact that this house was sold by Esther Short to W. L. Stabler for the sum of $225 in 1849. I guess that appeals to my love of real estate.

It is Monday and that means we get to look at some more of our Vancouver area market statistics. Last week we looked at 98661 which includes the Vancouver neighborhoods of Southcliff, Edgewood Park, Hudson’s Bay, Columbia Way, Central Park and Harney Heights. This week we’ll continue to work our way West and head into 98660 and 98663. This takes us down into the downtown Vancouver area and some of the neighborhoods included are Esther Short, Hough, Arnada, Carter Park, Fruit Valley, Shumway and Lincoln. As always, I’ll post the statistics with a link to go see them much larger and easier. They’ll give you the August snapshot showing things like number of new listings, number of sales, average days on the market, rate of appreciation, average sales prices, etc.

Well, maybe not full blown Hollywood but pretty close. This promotional short film was created for a Blog Makeover Contest put on by InmanNews. Believe it or not, I was not the winner of the contest but I am a winner to have such a great promotional video to show off this blog and our community.

This video has been living over there on the upper right side for a while now but I want to give some proper credit for all the effort that went into it. My friend Chris Martin of Chris Martin Studios is the mastermind behind this whole production. I shared with Chris my hopes and goals of the video and he listened and came up with something that far exceeded my expectations!
