Day 118: Annual Worldwide Photo Walk Comes to Vancouver, WA

Are you a local photographer? Are you a local photography hobbyist? Do you own a camera and like to make photos? Does your phone have a camera on it? If you fall into any of these categories and you’d like to meet fellow photo enthusiasts from all different skill levels I’d love to tell you all about an event coming in July.

On Saturday, July 24th, 2010 Vancouver photographer Aaron Hockley will be our guide for Scott Kelby’s 3rd Annual Worldwide Photo Walk. This is exciting for me since I really enjoy getting out and shooting fun, interesting pics of our downtown Vancouver area and I enjoy meeting new people. This years photo walk will begin in Esther Short Park at the Salmon Run Bell Tower (in the SE corner of the park) at 10AM.

This is a limited space event! There are a total of 50 spaces available and at the time of writing this there are 35 ~~(now 30)~~ ~~(now 18)~~ ~~(now 11)~~ ~~(now 5)~~ (Zero) spaces available. You MUST register in advance for this FREE Downtown Vancouver, WA photo walk. I’d highly recommend signing up soon if you want to attend.

This is a great opportunity to explore, have some fun photographing downtown Vancouver, meet some fellow photo enthusiasts, learn some new photo tips, share each others photos, meet the host of 365 Things To Do In Vancouver, WA and maybe even grab a bite to eat when we’re done at Vancouver Farmers Market! Plan at least two hours for the photo walk.

Foto Friday: Sharing Some Love

Hello everyone! It’s Friday and that means it’s time for some photos. Rather than share some of my photos this week, I’m going to share the love with some of my Flickr friends who’ve been kind enough to use the Creative Commons license that allows me to share their photos. One of my local Portland area friends Nick Bostic is an avid diver. I’m not so sure I’d be up for this. Glad Nick takes photos so I can enjoy them.

This beauty comes from my Denver Realtor friend Kristal Kraft. Aren’t the snow covered peaks wonderful? I really love the contrast of the snow with the colors of the houses.

This cool abstract comes to us from another of my local Portland/Vancouver area photographer friends Aaron Hockley. Aaron can often be found lurking around railroad tracks and rail yards. This last photo comes courtesy of Teresa Boardman. Teresa is my Realtor friend from Saint Paul that I mentioned the other day. “T” as she is known around the interwebs has an incredible eye and perspective (no, that’s not a crack toward height ) in her photos. They really are lovely.

Hello Clark County! It’s Foto Friday, which means it’s time to show some photos.

We all are busy. We all run around doing all the things that have to get done. Often we forget how important it is to stop and smell the roses. Today, please take a moment in the craziness of life and pause… take a deep breath… and smell the roses all around you.

Back in November Chris O’Rourke put a challenge out to the Portland/Vancouver community. He called it The Great Portland Interview Experiment. Basically we each left a comment on the blog post saying we wanted to participate. The person above was to do an interview of the person below their comment, and they were to interview the person below them, and on and on… These interviews then would get posted on each interviewers blog. It is a pretty cool way to get to know some other people.

Well, I finally got around to doing my interview. I was fortunate enough to get Mark Colman as my ~~victim~~ subject. I’ve followed Mark enough to know he is a pretty cool and fun guy. So, I asked if he’d be up for a fun little video interview instead of me typing him some questions and him answering back in text form. He of course said yes (thankfully) and this is the result of our interview. (Now is when you click “PLAY” and watch our video)
