Day 342 of 365…
This coming weekend is the 49th Annual Clark College Jazz Festival and it’s an event not to miss. You have the opportunity to see over 60 high school vocal and instrumental jazz ensembles who are among the best of the best. If you’re a jazz lover I’d suggest you stop in at least one or maybe all three days to “check it out”.
The Jazz Festival takes place in Gaiser Hall on the Clark College campus. It is $5 per day to attend and runs January 27th, 28th & 29th. Clark College students will get in for free as well as kids under 12 with a paid adult. What a great opportunity to introduce your kids to jazz.
This year they have introduced an invitational Middle School component on Thursday, January 27th. It’s not part of the competition but a great exposure for the kids to raise their game and participate in such a great event. Feel free to browse the entire Clark College Jazz Festival schedule to see when you might like to go. I love the following from their website:
The vision of the Clark College Jazz Festival intends to meet three goals:
* To promote the ideals of jazz music, jazz education, and jazz performance to the Clark College community, the participating high schools, and the local community
* To provide a learning and motivating opportunity to all participating high school jazz students and their directors early in the festival season
* To enhance the education of the students of Clark College by providing the opportunity to experience the administrative and organizational skills required to produce an event of this magnitude
Clark College is located at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver, WA 98663. You can also see the Clark College Jazz Festival event on Facebook.
